Zimmer Biomet: David Dvorak (President & CEO)

Zimmer Biomet: David Dvorak (President & CEO)

Why this is a big quit:

In July, Zimmer Biomet waved goodbye to President and CEO, David Dvorak. During his 10 year stint at the head, Zimmer Biomet “transformed into a truly global leader in musculoskeletal healthcare” [1] according to their Chairman of the Board, Larry Glasscock. Dvorak, with the company for 16 years, saw the company grow from 3,000 employees to 18,000 and helped muscle its way into a Fortune 500 company. Under Dvorak’s leadership, Zimmer Biomet’s revenue doubled and amassed a leading portfolio of technologies, solutions, and personalized services.

Why this is not as big as the top 10:

With all that Dvorak accomplished during his tenure, the company’s recent poor execution weakened its footing in the musculoskeletal healthcare industry. Over the last several quarters, Zimmer Biomet’s sales atrophied, while its competitors have increased in mass. While Zimmer Biomet is searching for an experienced CEO with a proven history of success to restore investor confidence, Dvorak will be replaced by, former senior VP and CFO, Daniel Florin.
